The Posture Board, also known as a bunkie board, is a low-profile support board designed to create a firmer, flatter base under your mattress. It is a great option when you need extra support without adding the height of a regular box spring.
This board helps improve mattress stability by giving the mattress a more even surface underneath. It is useful for platform beds, slat beds, metal frames with proper support, or any setup where the mattress needs a stronger, flatter base.
- Low-Profile Support: Approx. 1.5” thick, adding support without raising the bed too high.
- Also Called a Bunkie Board: A commonly used support board placed under the mattress.
- Firmer Mattress Feel: Helps create a more solid and supportive sleep surface.
- Helps Reduce Sagging: Even support can help reduce uneven mattress wear.
- Box Spring Alternative: Great when you need support but want a lower bed height.
- Ideal for Slat or Platform Beds: Helps create a flatter surface under the mattress.
- Works With Many Mattress Types: Suitable for foam, innerspring, pocket coil, and hybrid mattresses.
- Easy to Use: Simply place between the mattress and a proper bed frame or platform.
- Great for Tight Spaces: Easier to move and handle than a full box spring.
Important: A posture board/bunkie board should be used on a proper bed frame, platform, or support surface. It is not meant to fix a broken, bent, or unsupported bed frame.

How to Measure for a Mattress
-
Measure the inside width and length of the bed frame, platform or opening—not the outside edges.
-
Measure the available height and clearance, especially for RV bunks, hide-a-beds and truck sleeping spaces.
-
Measure at several points because custom spaces may not be perfectly square.
-
Note any rounded corners, angled edges, cut-outs or folding requirements. A simple drawing or photo can help us confirm your custom mattress.
